The Succession shows exactly how easy it is for children to mirror the thoughts and ideologies of the adults around them. Tyler and Andre, absorb everything their families have passed onto them, as the boys copy everything Tyler’s father does. Trouble begins to stir once the adults talk about immigration and their gun ownership. It’s evident where this story is going once the boys get on their bikes, guns strapped to their backs, and head towards the Texas State Capitol to “declare independence and take out the immigrants”. They stop by a restaurant to get water, where they meet Jenny, a Chinese-American girl from their class and tell her about their plan. The boys stay at the restaurant instead of going to the capitol, slowly sounding more like children than reflections of their families. Although these kids are still being raised in a very close minded environment, the film ends on a more positive note than it had begun with.
